It was later purchased and used as a residence, but eventually the owners abandoned it and it was doomed for destruction. ![]() Then along came a man by the name of Alfred Hitchcock whose classic 1963 horror film, "The Birds," gave it a new life and destined it to live for many years to come. The front room of the schoolhouse, the only one restored for the classroom scenes in the film, is now a gift shop and museum on Bodega history and the making of the movie. Being a local artist in the area, I was commissioned to capture the newly restored schoolhouse and that work is on view in the museum. Tours are available by appointment. M. Cartons of milk and loaves of bread, plus all the little fiddly British groceries you could put out for tea, support the "market" designation. Good coffee and a comfortable view of Graton's main street make it a great place to sit and people-watch as well as a wonderful atmosphere in which to display my art, all of which is for sale. Claude Smith is the curator of the art exhibits at the Willow Wood Market Cafe and a great artist in his own right.
